Cylindrical Thrust Roller Bearing

Thrust ball (roller) bearings

Also named thrust bearings, they are dedicated to bearing axial loads, consisting of thrust washers, rolling elements and cages, and divided into thrust ball bearings and thrust roller bearings. Axial loads are transmitted via shaft washers and housing washers. Thrust ball bearings suit medium and low speed scenarios, while thrust roller bearings offer higher load capacity and self-aligning performance, widely used for automotive steering systems and machine tool spindles.

Thrust ball bearings include unidirectional and bidirectional types. The shaft washer fits the shaft while the housing washer matches the bearing housing. Self-aligning types reduce the impact of mounting errors. Thrust roller bearings include cylindrical and spherical roller types for heavy-load equipment such as oil rigs and hydroelectric generators. During installation, distinguish tight and loose rings; the loose ring must fit closely to stationary parts to avoid journal wear.
